Fortinet Mission

Fortinet’s mission is to deliver the most innovative, highest performing network security fabric to secure and simplify IT infrastructure.

Fortinet Security Fabric

The Fortinet Security Fabric is the first architectural approach to security designed to connect security solutions into a unified framework, allowing them to dynamically adapt to the evolving IT Infrastructure in order to defend its rapidly changing attack surface.

  • The Fortinet Security Fabric integrates security for the endpoint, access layer, network, applications, data center, content, and cloud into a cooperative solution that can be managed, analyzed, and orchestrated through a unified management interface.
  • It intelligently and transparently segments the customer’s network, from IoT to the Cloud, to provide advanced protection against sophisticated threats
  • The security fabric framework addresses three fundamental requirements to meet today’s advanced networking and security requirements
    • Integration – security and network tools need to work together as a single system to enhance visibility and correlate and share threat intelligence
    • Synchronization – a security architecture needs works as a unified system to enable single pane of glass management and analysis, and to enable a coordinated respond to threats through such things as isolating affected devices, updating rules, and removing malware
    • Automation – in order for security solutions to adapt to dynamically changing network configurations, and respond in real time to detected threats, security measures and countermeasures need to be applied automatically.

Fortinet Solution Offering:

Fortinet offers a broad set of complementary solutions that allow customers to secure and simplify their networks, including:

Fortinet Cyber Threat Assessment Program to Uncover Critical Security Risks:

Program Uncovers Unknown Risks, Provides Immediate Mitigation Strategies

Fortinet, is offering its threat assessment program to organizations free-of-charge. Through the assessment process, the FortiGate high-performance next generation firewall will be installed within the customer network, where it monitors the application traffic traversing the network for intrusions, malware and malicious applications that could collectively cause massive risk to the network, giving attackers access to a company’s most sensitive files and database information. At the end of the data collection period, a detailed ‘Risk Assessment Report’ will be generated, using FortiAnalyzer, that provides an analysis of the application traffic, user productivity, network utilization, the overall security risk, and the related business risk, as well as detailed, actionable mitigation recommendations.

Fortinet R&D Activities:

I. Developing Wi-Fi Technologies at Bangalore:

The Fortinet Innovation Centre in Bangalore is the company’s largest R&D facility outside North America. Its R&D team has influenced WiFi standards, obtained multiple patents and conducted pivotal engineering work to develop Fortinet’s enterprise/infrastructure WiFi solutions. The team at the Fortinet Innovation Centre  develops state-of-the-art algorithms that secure large enterprise networks running mobile and IoT devices, and location-based services.  At Bangalore, the center helps in building enterprise class WiFi systems that seamlessly onboard and switch customers between WiFi and LTE networks.

II. DDoS research labs at Hyderabad:

FortiGuard labs has an R&D Center at Hyderabad which works very closely with the Fortinet’s R&D center at its head office in Sunnyvale, CA, USA. The primary focus of engineers at the Hyderabad research center is on building the hardware logic for FortiDDoS appliances used for Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack mitigation. The team specialises in digital design for high-speed Internet security applications.  The team works on developing hardware logic for TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, SIP and other networking protocols.
