Forrester is one of the most influential research and advisory firms in the world. We work with business and technology leaders to develop customer-obsessed strategies that drive growth. Forrester’s unique insights and frameworks are grounded in annual surveys of more than 500,000 consumers and business leaders worldwide, rigorous and objective methodologies, and the shared wisdom of our most innovative clients. Through proprietary research, data, consulting, events, and exclusive executive networks and programs, the Forrester experience is about a singular and powerful purpose: to challenge the thinking of our clients to help them lead change in their organizations.
Given the trends in technology, business models, and customer market power, Forrester believes that all enterprises must undertake a business technology (BT) agenda that applies technology, systems, and processes to win, serve, and retain customers. However, while the broad edicts are the same across all businesses, the strategy, investment, and institutional specifics are not. CIOs must play a central role in identifying and shaping their enterprise’s ongoing response to age-of-the-customer dynamics, a 20-year business cycle in which the most successful enterprises will reinvent themselves to systematically understand and serve increasingly powerful customers. The BT agenda must factor enormous business, technology, and political complexity. Stakes will be high; rewards and risks, significant. For many CIOs, how they lead the BT agenda will shape their business’ future success — and define their career.
The release of Forrester’s global technology market outlook for 2016 to 2017 forecasts that Business Technology (BT) spending will grow three times faster than Information Technology (IT) spending. The rise of business technology coincides with the age of the customer, According to Forrester’s forecast, BT spending is expected to increase by 8.1% in 2016 to reach US$756 billion, and 9.4% in 2017 to reach US$827 billion. This is three times faster than IT spending which is estimated to grow at 2.3% and 3.4% respectively.
“2016 will be a critical year for companies to improve their ability to serve digitally savvy, empowered customers. To thrive in the age of the customer, CIOs need to embrace the BT agenda – systems, processes, and technologies to win, serve, and retain customers,” says Mukesh Jain, Forrester’s Country Manager for India. “We are honored to receive this recognition from the CIO community in India as it validates the value Forrester provides to business and technology leaders in leading the BT agenda for customer-obsession transformation.”
